Registering a new domain name
The registration process
is normally completed within a few hours, but can take longer depending
on the domain type requested.
Propagation, the process by which your new name is notified to all ISPs, can take up to 24 hours.
Transfering an existing domain name
If you already have a domain name and you're looking for a web host,
or you have a web host you want to move from, transferring your
website to us is simple.
You need to add or change the DNS information with your domain
name registrar to our name servers as follows:
ns1.apc-online.com
ns2.apc-online.com
Your domain name registrar should have a facility for you to make
these changes at their website. If they don't, email them and ask
them to change your nameservers as above.
If you have any difficulties, we can assist you in transferring
your domain to us.
Propagation
Information regarding web site locations are recorded on DNS tables
or nameservers. These records are updated by Internet Presence Providers
(ISPs) to reflect the addition and changes of site locations. The
update of these records are referred to as propagation.
Propagation normally takes 6 to 24 hours. During the propagation
period a visitor accessing your site may access the old site or
the new site, depending on whether their ISP has updated their DNS
records or not. After the propagation period, you should contact
your previous web hosting company and request them to update their
DNS and delete your domain from their server. After this information
has been completely propagated, the transfer is complete.
Australian Domain Names
