We have scheduled a maintenance window to apply software updates to hardware nodes to optimise the security and performance of all servers. The maintenance window is from 1:00pm to 9:00pm AEST (GMT +10) on Friday 24 June 2011. The nodes will be rebooted sequentially, so the exact time of each server reboot will depend on the time taken by the nodes rebooted before.
The hardware node will have to be rebooted and in the process, all servers in the node will also be rebooted. This typically takes just a few minutes. But while rebooting the hardware node, the operating system might force the node to run an FSCK (file system check). FSCK is a file system check similar to running Scandisk in Windows. If that occurs, then the server will be offline until the FSCK completes.
If the node reboots without an FSCK, it will be back online in 5 mins. But if it goes for FSCK, it could take up to a couple of hours.
We are not expecting any issues, but if any problems are encountered, systems which are not rebooted during the scheduled window will be re-scheduled to be rebooted at a later date.
We will closely monitor the work and will do everything possible to minimise any inconvenience to you. If you have any problems with your connection after this window, or if you have any questions regarding the maintenance at any time, please contact us on 1300 898 300.
We appreciate your patience during this work and welcome any feedback.
